Hi my name is Jonathan Poole (Beatles Fan) I decided to write this blog after having the misfortune of searching for basic recording facts and figures on other Beatle sites.
It's most frustrating, looking for Beatles recording info when your  either confronted with half arsed descriptions, a lack of catalogue numbers, shabby old record covers or even worse, some Mr Know It All, who boggles your brains with shit like what the Beatles had for breakfast when they recorded take 26 of Honey Pie! No! I don't sleep better knowing any of that stuff.....!
I'm sure the average Beatle buff out there just wants to have the reasonable facts about the tracks, you know, like the release dates, chart positions, who wrote the Beatle track, and a nice cover sleeve to look at, without 30 years of grime and masturbation on it! (I don't care if you had it since you were 10 and its worth £200, I want CLEAN, I want TIDY, I wanna be taken back in my mind to a record shop in 1967 and I'm just gonna buy a lovely new copy of Strawberry Fields!
...Lucky for you lot, I've searched the four corners of the earth for your pleasure, and the record sleeves are PUKKA!
Don't you fans worry...you are in safe hands, I love the Beatles, but I'm not a fanatic who thinks the Fabs can do no wrong (like some idiots I've known in the past!), yeah I think 'The Ringo song' has polluted many an otherwise classic album, I don't think Revolver is THAT brilliant (I mean Rubber Soul is twice as good  for Christ sake), and yes I know JL is a God, but give Macca a break, (heresy, I know!), but he did do the best tunes (including my all time fave, Hey Jude!)
Well let's get started, all you need to know (rather than spend all day scrolling through the site), is just to look at the panel on your right, click one of the links under 'Search'  or if you are looking for a song or album, tap the name into the box at the top left of this page.
...and the  World will turn for you!
I have also included 'The Beatles U.S. Discography' for our cousins across the pond (click on the relevant 'Search Category' on the right side of this post to access.)
This site is user friendly....It's Capricorn Tidy, and if I may add, a bit sexy too!
                    Jonathan Poole (December 2012)

In The Beginning -The Beatles feat Tony Sheridan
(UK released 1970)

 * Except Where Stated All The Songs Featured Tony Sheridan On Lead Vocals.
 * Although The Songs Were Recorded In June 1961, The album was available as a German import but was released in the UK in 1967 and a more complete version was released on 4th May 1970.
 * Only 8 Tracks Were Recorded Using The Beatles. 6 were as a backing band for Sheridan. Other tracks (not listed) Feature The Beat  Brothers on backing. But 1 track (Ain't She Sweet) features John Lennon on lead vocals & another song 'Cry For A Shadow' was an instrumental performed & written by The Beatles. (The Beatles Drummer at this session was Pete Best)
 * An EP was released in 1963 featuring 4 of these songs, but this collection was the most complete set up until that point. The album was recorded in Hamburg, Germany.
* I must point out that this site will concentrate on Beatles & solo Beatles releases mostly on the EMI / Parlophone/ Apple labels, the above sessions have been released numerous times in different formats, I will not confuse the reader with these variations so I will only include this album, which was the first major UK release of the 8 songs recorded by The Beatles (mostly featuring Tony Sheridan) in the 1961 sessions.

* The 15 songs recorded at the DECCA audition were never officially released as a set, except for bootleg copies. The 12 non Lennon-McCartney songs were first released on the 1982 album 'The Complete Silver Beatles' and this was followed by a number of differently titled budget albums between 1982 to 1985. These records were all deleted by the mid 1980's.
The CD debut of 5 of the DECCA songs came with the release of  'Anthology 1'  in 1995. This included 2 of the Lennon-McCartney songs. The CD release of the remaining 10 songs came with the 2013 album, 'I Saw Her Standing There'.
The DECCA audition ( January 1st 1962) was a failure, but the event is historically important for producing the first quality recordings by the group. It is also remembered for featuring Pete Best on drums.  For more information about the events click on The DECCA Audition (January 1 1962)
